YAG Service Projects

A list of possible service projects for YAG, gathered at last night's planning meeting, and assembled by Michael Light:

Year Long Focus on Food Issues: The YAGers thought it could be good to focus our service efforts on a particular issue for the year and support the Bellingham Food Bank, started by BUF many years ago. Here is a short list of initial ideas:

o Food Drive Trick or Treating / Costume Exchange Party – Let’s get dressed up and go door to door asking our community members to give us non-perishable treats to share with the food bank
o Connecting with Gleaning Project to do a BUF Gleaning Drive
o BUF Food Drive Potluck – we provide dinner and entertainment, and BUFsters bring the goods!
o Other BUF social events - where participants can donate food for attendance. E.g. movie night, concert

· Golden Chalice BlurbBook - Bios of our senior members created with Middle School Group, turned into a book that members can purchase. Michael, Beth and Erin to get details and present for the spring. Will connect with Rachel of Daytimers group and Crystal from RE

· Adopt a Highway – YAGer Darrin Rankin is in a group that adopted a portion of the Meridian Highway. He is looking for interested people to help for a biannual clean-up. Darrin to email more details and submit for the Blog.

· WWU Van Ride - One Sunday each month try to coordinate using the BUF van to pick up the WWU-UU group for service, maybe do a special YAG brunch afterwards? Michael to contact North and Erin to coordinate first drive!

· YAG presentation in service in June – Even if we don’t do anything formal, it would be neat to have some mention of our group in a service. We can talk about what this could look like in the coming months

· Auction Item – YAG to Donate 4 hours of spring cleaning! This could be indoor and outdoor to suite the interests of group members
